Assessment Pad

A welcoming and safe program for uncovering and addressing the root causes of behavioral and emotional challenges

We believe that everyone wants each student to not only survive but thrive.

Students joining the Assessment Pad become part of a supportive community of peers facing similar challenges. The program aims to foster independence, confidence, and belief in themselves. Our three-week program runs from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Students engage in social, emotional, behavioral, academic, and physical activities both individually and as a group. They develop a sense of belonging, self-awareness, self-authenticity, and perspective change while acquiring skills to better manage their emotions and behaviors.

We support parents and school staff throughout the program. Individual and group parent meetings are held to provide emotional support, reduce feelings of isolation, understand their perspectives, address challenging relationships, and connect them with community resources. Continued support is available as parents implement the action plan post-program.

Teachers, principals, REACH staff, and other relevant personnel are also involved. We seek their insights to prioritize the student's needs, address challenging relationships with parents, all while providing emotional support to them as well. Teachers collaborate with Nissa staff to provide academic assignments for the students during their time at the Assessment Pad.

Through one-on-one and collaborative group meetings, we work together to identify the root of the problem, set priorities, and create a comprehensive plan with both short- and long-term goals that will work for all those involved to ensure success in school and beyond.
